Ellsworth Springs West - Natural Area Ivy Removal

Objective: The primary goal of this project is to rid the park of harmful ivy growth, which threatens the vitality of the native trees and wildlife. By clearing the ivy, we aim to promote biodiversity and ensure the long-term sustainability of this precious natural habitat.
Volunteer Requirements: To ensure safety and effectiveness, volunteers are requested to wear long sleeve shirts and pants. Additionally, bringing vine pruning tools, if available, would be greatly appreciated as our supply of tools is limited.
Activities: Volunteers will work together to carefully remove ivy from the tree trunks, employing proper techniques to minimize harm to the trees. This hands-on activity offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature while making a tangible difference in the health of the park.
Safety Measures: Safety is our top priority. We will provide guidance on safe ivy removal techniques, as well as any necessary safety equipment. Additionally, volunteers will be briefed on potential hazards and how to mitigate risks during the clean-up activity.
Community Impact: By participating in this clean-up effort, volunteers will contribute directly to the preservation of Ellsworth Springs West. Together, we can enhance the beauty of this natural area, protect native wildlife habitats, and create a healthier environment for future generations to enjoy.
